Ok so to keep my shooting cost down I've finally decided to build a .223 bolt gun. So far I've decided to roll with a rock solid chassis and a 16.5-18.5 satern 1-7 twist. Surgeon 591 action unless anyone knows of a rem700 footprint action with 60deg throw.

Recommendations for actions? Surgeons seem like they are gonna be back ordered for a long time.

What is the current go to factory loaded mag fed ammo for inside 800m?

Can I expect this gun to considerably more accurate than a mk12?

Stiller or Defiance action, a chamber that let's you shoot 5.56mm and mine isn't done yet but I'd expect it to be more accurate than a MK12, but marginally so and at significant cost.

You will want the WYLDE chamber so you can shoot .223 or 5.56. Why the 1-7? 1-8 will stabilize the 77gr. while still being able to shoot some lighter stuff too.
FGMM is the good stuff in either 77 or 69 gr. It is expensive and doubt you will save any money shooting it. Southwest Ammo has some decent 5.56.

Handloading will yield the accuracy your looking for.
