Nice!!! Glad to see that my old stock ended up on another 223. Here's that same stock on my first 223AI. That stock has killed some deer.

Is this your old stock Brad, it had a different inlet for it when I got it. It now has a M5 that has been waiting the new AI mag for a while.

Ya, thats it. I painted the pseudo GAP camo on it with just krylon..It was originally inletted for BDL/HS DBM bottom metal. I traded it to DebosDave, he might have opened it up.
I've never ran the 80'max's, but have shot deer with the 75'max's and there can't be much differene. They will come unhinged.

That's my experience with 75 amaxes as well. Shot a doe broadside at 75 yards earlier this month and there was no exit hole. I am usually not squeamish, but the internal damage that the amax did to the doe was "impressive". I'll be taking headshots with those amaxes from now on.

Yea I got it from him. I dremeled it for a M5. Bedded action and dbm. Turned out great. Sure wish we had some of those heavy hoof deer in MO.
I dug around in the neck shot deer and found nothing but pinhead sized mush left of the bullet (hit the spine). I have been wanting to get a shot that is a chest area hit.

Some nice deer there guys!
The .223 does pretty well, we used 69gr SMK this year only recovered 1 bullet, the others all went on through. Not sure it would be my bullet/cartridge of choice in any situation but it works when the shots go where they should.

I love the 80grn Amax but I prefer to launch it from my 22-250 at 3200fps.
As posted above there is no doubt about its killing power, nice pics guys. I'll see if I can't round up one as well

here is pm i answered
First and for most is the twist rate of his gun. Mine is a 1 in 7 twist. Most factory barrels are either 1 in 14 or 1 in 12 which will NOT shoot the 80gr in fact they will have trouble with anything over 55gr.
with that, I load a modest 33.5gr of varget and CCI BR2 primers which yields 3200 with the 80's and 3300 with the 75. Good thing is you have all the mag room to load these sucker out as far as you need them
I plan on flirting with some 90gr VLD's, this spring.

my .223 is a heavy barrel ar-15. anything over 70 gr. has to be single fed. wont fit in mag.
