Is the AI and AICS mags the same? I am looking at building a REM 700 SA in 223 and looking at the AICS stock and the Mcree stock. The Mcree takes the AI mag but unable the verify if they are the same. Why a 223 bolt? My local range is only 500yds, less recoil and a lot less expensive to practice with. Did I mention it was cheaper! I believe the XLR chassis has its own mags. Thanks for the help.

XLR Chassis uses the AI mags. I don't think there's any difference at all between AI and AICS mags, but I may stand corrected.

AI makes several different mags for their rifles and chassis.
The AICS mags were originally for the chassis before the AIAE MKII came out. Now, it uses them too.
The 223 mags are for the AICS chassis since AI doesn't currently make a 223 caliber rifle that I know of.
The XLR chassis uses the same mags as the AI chassis.
