I was looking for a quieter load for my 223 that would still make it to 300 for rock chucks. Loaded up a few loads of 10.5 grains of BD under 50 grain TNT's, Speer 52 grain hp's, and 55 grain Blitzkings. Wind was 10-15mph full value left to right, so I wasn't too worried about L-R stringing. Did want good vertical at 300 as that will let me know if I'm on the right track. Also brought a few 16oz plastic water bottles for the pop factor.
The 52's shot ok, but were the worst at 1" for 3 shots at 100 yards and no real pop on the water bottles. Next were the TNT's. About 3/4" at 100 yards and good pop factor. Went to 300 yards and got a 3" 3 shot group ( 2 " vertical) with 2 mils up and 1 mil of wind. Not bad and I would be happy with that except I then shot the 55 BK's. 3 shots at 100 yards went 5/16" C-C, popped the water bottle very nicely too. Then went to 300 yards and shot a 2.5" horizontal X 1/2" vertical group. And I have 2200 55 grain BK's in the loading room so I'm set.
