I have a couple of 5 gal buckets of .223 range brass, and would like to know which brand to pull out for reloading. I've already pulled out all the LC brass and cut them down for the 300 blackout. I'm sure there are a few thousand of 6 or more brands. Question is which. I would like to stick with a single brand . Any coments would be appreciated. Maybe r&p ?

Re: .223 brass

Sort them by headstamp then process the largest pile first.

I prefer WCC (Winchester), but also load Lake City and PMC. I have Federal and Remington sorted. I also have a bag of mixed NATO.

I load my 77's in WCC and 52-55 in the PMC/LC so I can sort quicker.

I like any commercial since I don't have to worry about crimp. Preference is Win or RP. Both have been very consistent for me. I have other foreign headstamps, but I typically just sell them off to help offset the initial cost of the brass.

This. Unless your setup to swage alot of crimped brass, stick to RP and Win.

If you do sell off your brass, I do buy it for 55$/1k.

Re: .223 brass

I personally only reload non-crimped nato, and sell all commercial brass that I come across in 223/556. If you dead set on reloading the commercial brass, I would do what Gunsnjeeps said, sort and start working on the most abundant brand first. Work that first batch into the ground, than start working on the next abundant batch. By how much you said you have, after you've worked the second batch into the ground, the government will have taken your gun away from you, and you'd more than likely have a 2nd 5 gallon pail to start over again with.
