I am wanting to reload some field ammo and understand I need to crimp semi auto loads.

I have the RCBS 2 die set ( FL die and seater) Does anyone know if the seater has a taper crimper bulit in as standard? I read somewhere that the .223 die had some sort of crimp built into the die?

Can anyone help me out. I need to know if I need to order a new seater or not.

It should have the crimper in it. Did you buy it new? If so look at the little folded up paper. It'll tell you how to set-it up to get the crimp you want. If not someone eles will have to help you I havn't reloaded to a semi-auto rifle yet but I'm going to be learning it shortly got to build a load for my AR also.

If you are going to crimp the .223 I'd get a Lee factory crimp die. Inexpensive, but works well even with non cannelured bullets. For long range accuracy, you probably don't want the crimp. Seating and crimping in the same motion usually results in varying seating depths and amount of crimping, both of which affect accuracy negatively. JMHO

yes the 2 die set has the built in crimp. All you need to do is run the die body down until it touches the shell holder then adjust your seating depth via the screw on top

Are your bullets really moving in the case neck, so you really need to crimp?

When I load a 45acp revolver up so it kicks like a 44 mag, I can get some bullet movement.

Other than that, my Lee factory crimp for rifles and the crimp up in the neck of the seating die have not got used for 10 years.
