Gunsmithing 223 Reamer for use with AICS 223 Magazines

Would like to feed from an AICS 223 Magazine.

Will be using 75gn AMAX and 80gn SMKs.

Here is our measurements for a JGS 223 Remington SAAMI reamer.

50 Gr Hornady V-Max =2.250
69 Gr SMK COAL = 2.278
77 Gr SMK COAL = 2.265
75 Gr Hornady Match =2.286
75 Gr Hornady A-Max = 2.418
77 Gr Nosler Match = 2.275

The .223 AI magazines are roughly 2.550" of useful room.

LOL. The woman needs a lil F-Class gun so I am going to start her out on a 223.

With that being a minimum spec SAAMI spec reamer, would it be helpful to make the freebore a lil longer to gain more case capacity?

Vu,

We can throat out the chamber to whatever the customer wants. I can make up a dummy and throat it to that dummy.

I can cut away a case tomorrow and see where the neck/shoulder junction. This will let us know where to load the dummy for maximum performance.

You might look for .080 freebore (1deg -30 )
