I've had this 223ai far a few hundred rounds and so far haven't got feeding 100% yet with Accurate mags. The rounds will get in the chamber about a 1/4" and jam sometimes. It leaves a very noticeable mark below he should so I know exactly where it's catching. It leads me to believe that the rounds need to pop up out of the mag sooner than they are. The problem is with the plastic insert, once you open the lips there's no turning back. I don't want to get too far and it still not work.

Anyone open up the plastic lips in an Accurate 223 mag to solve this problem?

You can see the mark here.

It might be helpful if you let us know what action, chassis/stock, and DBM you are running. Sometimes someone with the same setup can chime in and help out. Unfortunately, I cannot be of much help here, but I am curious if you have tried MDT's 223 mags?

I ran into the same issue after having my 223 AI built on a 700 action. I was getting the exact same marks on the brass feeding 80GR Eld's at 2.500" from AI polymer mags in a manners mini chassis. In the end what fixed my issue was ditching my neck sizing die and going to a full length sizing die. The slight change in body dimension allowed it to feed perfectly.

It's just a plain Jane 700 using ptg bottom metal. I'm running 80vlds OAL is about 2.42ish

i haven't tried MDT mags but probably will be ordering one or 2 to try since I've been running 5 rounders and could use a 10.

i use a FL die already. So sadly that won't help me.

    Geno,

My MDT LSS was doing the same thing as well as not picking up rounds occasionally. MDT kept sending me mag levers (great customer service) of different lengths, but they weren't long enough. I eventually put a tig weld on it and filed it down until it was WAY positive. Ended up adding 40 thousandths! Shit feeds great now. Maybe you have the same thing going on?

I wouldn't mess with the feed lips unless it's a last resort.

Please post up with whatever you figure out.

My mags sit tight. There is no more room to get them higher. I thought that might have been the problem in the beginning. I have a couple mdt mags on the way from padom so we'll see if another type of mag has the same problem.
