I am converting my daniel defense carbine to a 224 Grendel. Right now i have a magpul ctr stock on it with a carbine length buffer tube.

The barrel will have a +2 rifle length gas system. Will i need to switch to a rifle length buffer tube? I am considering switching to an A2 stock, but if i have to use a rifle length buffer system then that makes my decision pretty easy.

No, you don't have to use a rifle length buffer and tube with a rifle length gas system. You can use carbine recoil system parts.

That really has nothing to do with the 224 Grendel cartridge; it's just how ARs work.

I was just curious if I would have bolt velocity issues or destroying brass if I only used a carbine length tube/buffer.

Remember that you need to use a carbine spring with that carbine buffer. The name of the gas port location doesn't have to match the name of the spring and buffer, but the spring and buffer do need to match each other.

Never mind. I know that you can use a rifle length gas system with a carbine buffer/tube. I was just asking if I would be better off with a rifle length tube/buffer vs carbine.
