My first question here. I recently resized my brass after the 2nd firing. All went well until I went to seat the first projectile and instead of needing to be pressed into place, the bullet simply fell into the brass. Measured the ID and it was .2245 the projectiles measured. 2230. both Berger 88.5-grain bullets. pReran the brass back through the sizing die without the expander and no change whatsoever. I've been reloading for 40 plus years and this is the first problem like this and I have no clue what went south. I'd appreciate any advice.

What die? What brass? I highly doubt your bullets measure that undersize

Measure the outside with your calipers and see the difference from fired to sized. If you can accurately measure the inside I have a hard time believing you can’t figure it out.

Are you forgetting a bushing or something?

Federal & Starline brass dies RCBS. I think the sizing sleeve has fallen out. I ordered a new sleeve. Thanks

The Neck Sizing Bushings are sold separately for those dies. Did you have a bushing?? Or forgot to order one initially?? In addition, the bushings are sold in different internal dimensions so you can adjust the amount of neck tension that is placed on the projectile.

Take a look around your reloading area, maybe you dropped the bushing when taking the sizing die apart. If you can't find it, you'll need to buy a new one.

I see that the RCBS Gold Medal dies don't come with a bushing. They are purchased separately. Did you buy one after buying the dies?

Have you used bushing dies before? There is a learning curve to using bushing dies rather than the normal F/L sizing dies.
