For anyone with experience, looking at this gas port what would you estimate the round count on the barrel to be? 22" 224 Valkyrie barrel shooting only factory ammo.
Depends on the material or even the grade of stainless, I've seen some like that with 100 rounds through them. Crieterion uses 410 SS on the other end Shilen which are very soft.
May or may not be relevant to your barrel, I was in a discussion with a barrel smith regarding lack of or improper reaming/deburring of the bore side of a gas port. Mostly found in barrels that have had the port enlarged. Some claim that it will "self-deburr" after a number of rounds. He explained that it can be the start of a erosion issue (peeling). Here's a pic of said tool that should be used:
My Valk looks a lot like that with 1,000 on it. It looked that after 300, though. I don't think you're going to be able to estimate round count with port erosion.
