After much research I am coming up with very little on this cartridge! So here the story my uncle had an encore chambered in .225 improved and now has fire formed most of his brass. I'm not sure on the specifics (as of now, will know more tomorrow) but i do know he has no load data , and i am unable to find an old ackley manual i had ! So if anyone has any info, load data, experience good or bad , or direction? He and i would greatly appreciate!

Re: .225 winchester improved info!

Out of the Ackley books I see:

.222 Rem Improved
.222 Rem Mag Improved
.22/.250 Improved
.220 Swift Improved
Nothing else fits your description, for some reason the .22-250 Imp seems to be the cartridge you are referring to.
If that is what you have, the Ackley book suggests you use standard .220 Swift load data. The .22-250 Imp either has a 28 degree or 40 degree shoulder and is a .250 savage case necked down to .22..

Re: .225 winchester improved info!

Just use the max load for the standard 225 as a starter load. Anytime you increase internal volume, it takes more powder to make the same pressure as the parent did. No, the 22-250imp or the 220 is not the same as the 225 imp.

Re: .225 winchester improved info!

Thanks for the info guys! It's definitely >225 win from the looks of the case it's a 40 degree . i found some info last night about the history of the round seems that it never took off and once 22-250 was standardized the 225 went by the way side! thanks again
