I have a Stag Lefty upper with a 1:7 twist and a back ordered Stag Lefty .22lr conversion which is "supposedly" being sent to me. I know I shouldn't expect great accuracy but is the 1:7 just too fast to stabilize a 36 or 40 gr bullet?

Re: .22lr out of a 1:7 twist AR

Been wondering this as well. I've a 1:9 twist and just received a CMMG .22 conversion. Haven't had time yet to shoot but hope its ok. If not easy sell and a dedicated upper will be ordered.

Re: .22lr out of a 1:7 twist AR

You will get better results out of the slower rounds. As previously stated, regular 22LR barrels are 1-16 for normal rounds and 1-9 for guns built specifically to run suppressed with sub sonics. All my 22 experience comes from dedicated 22 rifles, but from what most say you will get about 2" at 50 yrds or about the same accuracy as really cheap .223. Also, and this is just a guess, jacketed rounds may do better than lead or hollow points as they will be structurally stronger and may withstand the higher RPMs of the 1-7 better. But beware, if the ammo situation where you are is anything like where I am, 22 rounds are as hard to find as cheap .223. I can't even find anything but expensive match grade and shot shells on line.

I thank you guys for your help. I guess if it shoots like shit within 25 yards I can always sell it and it being a lefty kit is pretty hard to come by.
