Hey guys. Nothing like placing an order for a barrel then later checking to see if the length is "ok" for my use. Its a Criterion 308 10 twist at 24". I plan to use 150's up to 178's maybe and really like the 168 A Max out of old barrel. I mainly shoot from 1-300 yds but do plan to try F Class this year so that will stretch it out. Is 24" w/ a brake ok for my use? Is there a site or program that depicts best barrel lengths? Thanks in advance.

24" is a fine length. But you might want to check the rules for F Class before you install the muzzle brake. Don't think they are allowed.

You're fine, brakes are not allowed, so buy one that is simple to remove and put back on, badger fte comes to mind.

If you're looking to win big matches at a grand, a 30" barrel would be better, but there's always something better these days...

But the "know it all salesman" in my local shop told me that anything over 24" in a .308 was too long and inaccurate.

Of course he also tells everyone he was an Army Sniper in Afghanistan. All 300 lbs of him.

That'll be more than adequate. I'm going 28" with mine.
