243 with 115 dtac loads

Re: 243 with 115 dtac loads

I shoot the same load through my Scalpel and Nighthawk in 243. The Scalpel has a 26" krieger. The nighthawk has a 26" Broughton. They both shoot this load:
Lapua Case
47.2 grains of H-1000 with a pointed DTAC at 2.77, Fed 210.
You can also try bumping that up to 47.5 for a little more speed.
Or use, RL-25 at the same rate, but I pefer the Temperature insensitivity of the H-1000.
Hope it helps

Re: 243 with 115 dtac loads

That'll get you in the ball park. I'm using Lapua brass filled up with 47.5gr of H1000 @ 2.83" OAL out of a 27" Krieger.

Re: 243 with 115 dtac loads

27" Kreiger 7.5 twist barrel, 42.5grns of H4350 in Win brass with BN coated 115 DTAC gives me 3020fps.

I'm getting 2950fps.

Neck sizing only and using CCI BR2's.

Re: 243 with 115 dtac loads

I would suggest starting at 38.5gr of H4350 and working up in 0.5gr increments until you hit pressure, then start accuracy testing.

I did a work-up with H4350, but in my rifle the pressure peaked a little earlier than I wanted. Others have had better results. No telling till you try it and see.

Good Luck!

Re: 243 with 115 dtac loads

I was able to get up to 42.0gr of H4350 with a speed of 2975, but the pressure was higher than I'd like. I was getting quite a bit of flow into the ejector plunger at that charge weight accompanied by sticky bolt lift. When I switched to H1000 I was able to achieve that same velocity and then some, but I backed off the charge weight to the most accurate load.
