Rifle Scopes $2500 MSRP Limit (PRS Production Class)

Who is king? I've shot a bunch of NRL22x/NRL Hunter but haven't gotten into PRS. I have an MPA BA PMR Pro II on order that I don't think I'd change much on anyway, and since it is eligible for Production class figure I might try to keep the optic there as well. Options seem to be slim; FFP/MIL/20x+ max are my criteria.

Most scopes have ridiculous MSRP's compared to street prices. I'd grab a Gen3 Razor and have fun but the MSRP is laughable.

Zeiss LRP S3 6-36 seems to be the best option I can find. Though they are one MSRP bump from being ineligible. XTR Pro is out; feel like the LRP S3 is well ahead of an XTR III? Looked at the Leica PRS 5-30 as well but those don't seem to have much of a following.

Yeah yeah I know, run what you want and shoot open. Still considering that, but setting up rifles for specific purposes is a fun game to play.
Actually the glass in my Burris XTR-III 5.5-30x56 is on par with my Zeiss LRP S3 6-36x56...

I have a couple of sightron's and am very pleased with them, though not perfect.
I looked hard at the 5-30, but after reading a review by @BigJimFish, where he reported poor glass quality (I understand it was an example of one) gave me pause, then I looked at the specs, only 23.5 mils of adjustment, turning it into a short range scope, I decided to pass.
A shame, I've talked to the folks in Florida a couple of times, seem like good folks, but they can't seem to put all their shit in one sock. They are always just missing the boat on the tactical scopes.
I have one of the very first S5 4.5-28 scopes that came in to the country (number 12 of the first batch). The glass is great, but the locking knobs are extremely difficult to lift. It does not have a zero stop, but I knew that going in. That being said, it is one of my favorite scopes, very easy to get behind. I had high hopes for the 5-30, but they scared me off.
Interesting point about the elevation limitation. You could fix that by using something like a 20, 30 or even 40 MOA mount to stretch out the usable elevation, but I understand it is not as much as other scopes. Regarding the glass and BigJimFish, I can only speak to my own experience, which is that it is fantastic clarity in all regards, obviously better than my Athlon, Arken, and Vortexes, and even the Leupold Mk5HDs and NFs that I have used. If it does not meet your needs, that is one thing, but don't count it out. Cheers!

The MK5 5-25 dominates production. Its also very popular in open.

Don't think about it, just do it. Buying some fly by night oem shit brand is going to leave you with something worthless in 5 years. You can buy a MK5 today, use it for a few years and sell it for what you paid....Free rental.

In one last time before the inevitable shit-flinging starts.

I don't think you're going to see enough difference in broad daylight PRS to feel outclassed by any other of the LRP S3/XTR Pro/MK5 options if you're running one of those three. Perhaps Tract could be added to that discussion, but I have no experience with one.

Get the features you want and run with confidence. I bet that 99.999% of shooters will be limited more by their skillset than one of those scopes vs the other.

If someone were to offer to give me one for free, I'd go LRP S3 though... even though I have one serious gripe with it.

Your money, YMMV.

If you shoot enough you will see everything fail. I had an issue with my ZCO/mount last weekend that cost me about 20 spots. Shit happens and usually its not the actual scope. If there was some kind of widespread issue with the MK5, guys would not be podiuming with them every weekend. Shooters are too good and its way to competitive to use gear you cant trust.
