I just had SAC build me a 260 and all my cleaning equipment is for a 308. What jag would I get for a 260?
I know this is basic but I was all over sinclairs and couldnt find a .264 jag anywhere.
Thanks

Re: 260 basic question?

I use a Parker-hale .30 rod in my 260 REM with an adapter for a .22 cal Parker hale style jag. Seems to work fine.....should I not be using the 30 cal rod?

Re: 260 basic question?

I use the. 22-.27 caliber Tipton rod for pretty much all my cleaning needs. I don't see where it'd be a issue using the 22 caliber jag but would suspect you'd get better patch coverage with the proper jag??
All my jags are caliber specific though.

Yep I use exactly the same, no issue as far as I can see. Even though its a snug fit the brass end cap is not going to damage barrel steel with just the odd bit of contact.

The jag's not the problem, the .22 PH rod isn't long enough to go through a 26" barrel with a bore guide hence using the larger yellow rod. Although its snug I really don't think there's much if any contact of brass on barrel using a correct fitting patch.

Re: 260 basic question?

Get the Dewey coated rod for .22 caliber, fits up to 6.5mm. 44" for long barrels or high-comb stock (so the handle don't cause you to raise the rod to clear the stock), 36" if your barrel is 25" or less.

7mm to .45cal use the 30cal rod diameter.

Great products and lots of custom jags and adapters.

Got a custom barrel? Get a Dewey Bore-Guide and save your stock and barrel.

For the record, it takes a ton less passes using a 6.5 jag than a .22 jag. </div></div>

Yep I agree, for the record I always use the correct fitting jag - in this case 6.5. All I'm doing differently is using a larger rod which is a snug fit.

All of this is largely academic anyway because I only clean when accuracy drops off. Even then its only a couple of passes through to get the worst out.
