.260 Favorite Powders

Getting my .260 together and will start load development soon but I only have expeience with light wt. smaller calibers (.223)and pistol. I'll be shooting bullets in the 140gr neighborhood, AMAX, SMK, Berger VLD's out if a 28" inch barrel. For those of you who load for .260 what powders do you use? For now I'll be shooting 300-500yds until I get more trigger time then I'd lik to stretch it out a bit. Thanks in advance

I use H4350 for loads with 140 AMAX, GAP 10 .260 rem

I shoot the same load with 43.5grns loaded at 2.830" at 2800fps (24.5" Krieger 5R barrel 1-8 twist)best five round group .446" The dot in the target is .5"

My fathers .260 shoots 43.8grns loaded at 2.830" 2900fps (26.5" Obermeyer 5R barrel 1-8.4 twist)best five round group .395"

42 gr of H4350 behind 139 Scenars in Lapua brass works well in my 24" 260. Getting about 2750 fps for muzzle velocity.

I'm using H4350 with 130 and 140 VLD's, and it seems to be the overwhelming favorite in the 260. I'd try that first, with a long barrel you may get more velocity out of H4831SC, but it will use more powder and take up more space, not sure how long you'll be loading them.

Lapua 139 scenars

47gr 4831sc

142 SMK's with 42.7gr's H4350, gives me just south of 2800 fps.

4831sc works good for me with that case. Both 243-260 will shoot .25 for three shots if every thing is in tune.

142 SMK's with 42 gr's H4350. I've got it out as far as 500 yards, happy with that combo.

Yeah, from 43 to 43.5 H4350 depending on your bullet choice.
