260 + H4350 + 130 Bergers....how much powder?

Re: 260 + H4350 + 130 Bergers....how much powder?

I’ve been told to check out 43.5gr w/ H4350 in Lapua brass with the 130 VLD's but have yet to get any bullets.

Just be for warned, there seems to be a powder lot out there that is a little slow for weight. So a good work up is recommended.

Re: 260 + H4350 + 130 Bergers....how much powder?

I would start in the 43gr area and work up to 46+. It depends on the col. I have seen 2 rifles shoot the 130's with 45.9 and 46 without pressure. BTW they are both at 3k. Work your way up to these numbers.

Re: 260 + H4350 + 130 Bergers....how much powder?

You might find your accuracy node around 44 or 45 but I would certainly start a grain or two lower and work up since every rifle is different. Your node may be 43.2 but if you start at 44 you'll never find it and quickly get discouraged. If using Lapua brass, absolutely start lower as they tend to run pretty hot. My accuracy node with Lapua brass and 142s is a healthy half grain lighter than Remington, Hornady, Winchester, etc.

Appreciate your feeback folks, I have shot 130 ABs but trying to 'dial in' a great load to hunt with while trying out these Bergers.

Getting ready to do some load testing using 130 vld's. I went through the 7 pages of 260 loads, lots of good info. Seems like most find nodes from 43.5- 45 grs with H4350. Going to work around this and see how things go. I'll post my results.
