260 load with Ramshot Hunter?

What is a good starting load for Hunter in the 260 rem? I've been searching for load data for awhile. I saw it mentioned in few threads.

I'll be using necked down win 7mm 08 brass with the 140 amax and 139 scenar.

I'll be loading on a Dillon so I want to stick with ball powder for now.

Bump up. I would also be interested to hear anyone's experience with Ramshot Hunter and the 260 with 140 grain projectiles. It seems like the right burn rate and would meter great in a progressive.

If anyone has tried it, please speak up.

Partially hijacking the thread - what about Ramshot TAC? Would it be good for Rem 260? Any experience with it?

Tac is going to be too fast for the 140's. According to QuickLoad Hunter is just about the top powder for the 260 when you set the propellant table, with variables 105% fill and 61K as max psi.

If you don't own it yet you guys need to get over to Neco and order Quickload its a great program and helps sort what powders are good for what and gives better data than any single reloading book could.

Take this with a grain of salt but it looks like somewhere around 43.5gr is going to be max load. It should yeild somewhere in the neighborhood of 2875fps with the 140's. Again WORK UP to the load as every rifle is different, watch carefully for pressure signs. If you are not experienced in reloading find someone who is to mentor you.

Thanks for the tip on the max load. I suppose its about time to break down and buy Quickload.

Any reason the manufacturer's data won't serve as a starting point...?

I've shot thousands (5-6)of this load: 260 Remington, Rem brass,
139 Secnar/ 142 MK 43.1 Ramshot Hunter, Fed 215 mag primer.
Only loaded on my Dillon 550.
memilinuk can attest to how they shoot.

I thought this post was dead! Thanks for the help everyone. I was concerned that the Ramshot data didn't have the exact bullets I plan on using. I'll start low with the closest on the list and work up.

I didn't feel like starting a new thread, and just to bring this back to life. Anyone have any info with using Hunter powder and 130's? I might try this powder since I have a lot on hand and is close to H4350 powder burn. My COL should be around 2.950-2.975" with Lapua brass.Any help will point me in the right direction.
