Looking for some load info. Seems most are running the 140grn. class bullets. Currently shooting the 123grn. Amax but only getting about 3/4 MOA accuracy. I have H4350, H4831, H1000 and some Retumbo. Thanks in advance.

Re: .260 Remington and 130grn. Bergers

From a 26" 8 twist Criterion 260 Rem barrel
Virgin, FL sized Lapua brass
WLR primer

<span style="font-weight: bold">123 A-Max</span>
2.85" OAL (touching lands)
39.3gr Varget (2930fps)
48.0gr H4381SC (3000fps)

<span style="font-weight: bold">130gr Berger VLD</span>
2.94" OAL (0.010" off lands)
43.5gr RL-17 (3000fps)
44.5gr H4350 (2975fps)

All the above data has repeatable 0.5 MOA accuracy...which is about all I'm good for behind the trigger until I send a lot more rounds downrange.

Using the same loads as the Bergers, I'm no more than 30fps slower with the 130gr Norma Golden Target @ 2.865" OAL (0.005" off lands). The Bergers have proven a bit more accurate so far, but my testing with the Norma Golden has been minimal and looks promising. Plus they're $9 per hundred cheaper than Bergers with a higher Litz G1/G7 BC to boot.

Thanks. How do you like the H4831 with the AMax's? I thought it would be too slow for the light bullet. I'm getting close to 3000fps with the H4350. I'm going to try messing with the seating depth a little. I have them seated touching the lands now and will try backing them off and try. I've just had really good luck with Bergers in other rifles I thought I might want to try them in my 260.

Re: .260 Remington and 130grn. Bergers

H4831SC seems to work pretty well from my 26" barrel; 48.0gr is lightly compressed with the 123 A-Max but it has low ES/SD. I can put more powder in at that OAL but once I hit 3000fps and good accuracy I stopped development.

I've started using Varget with 123s...velocity is about 2% lower for 18% less powder, and it has proven very accurate.

Tried using 4831SC with the 140 A-Max but more than 46.0gr @ 2.90" OAL it was so compressed I couldn't get consistent OALs; velocity was also lower than hoped at 2760fps.

Re: .260 Remington and 130grn. Bergers

I definitely get better results with H4350 when using 120 grain bullets, and with H4831sc when using 140 grain bullets. So, hmmmmm, uhhhhhh, I guess try them both. However, don't forget VV160, which also might work really well with that weight bullet.

Good luck!

Ran the 123grn. AMax's today at some different seating depths and got some interesting results. Will start a different thread for that. Might not need to try the Berger's after all.
