I am new to the ar-15 platform and have some questions.

1) do you crimp your rounds, even if the bullets do not have the crimp spot? I assume no, however I have read that some people do.

2) does anyone have have a good starting point for load development, and powder / bullet / brass suggestions?

Thanks

Re: 264 lbc ar-15 reloading questions

I don't load for that cartridge yet, but with 5.56 and 308 gas guns I have found that crimping is not needed. If you were going someplace dangerous or what not and wanted the peace of mind, than I could see it, but generally you won't see any accuracy gains from crimping bullets. Some people swear by the Lee FCD, and I used to use it on tired brass to get some consistent neck tension, but found it to not make a difference.
