280 Ackley vs 6.5x280 Ackley Load Data

Since there’s not much information on the 6.5x280 Ackley couldn’t I just start with similar loads with similar weight bullets in the 280 Ackley? I’m going to load some 143ELDX and Berger 6.5mm 156gr using RL17, RL19, RL22 and H4831sc. Would starting at medium charges for these powders in 280 AI be fine to go with?

Give West Texas Ordinance a call they have done a lot of work with the 6.5x280AI, I have been interested in building one myself, keep us updated on some real world numbers and groups

I'm running Rl 26 with the 147eld and 150smk in the 6.5/06ai. 27" barrel. Mine is a 7.5tw and throated for the 150smk. If your using that powder and the big bullets 56 grains with a coal 3.65 and up will be a low safe starting point. I've tried 4955 and that is slower bullet speeds but seems to shoot very small

I had one for hunting short throat. Re22 is what i used 53 grains 140 sst doing 2980 its a start the round has way more to offer than what i was pushing it. My coal i think was 3.340
