I have been debating this for a while.
I can't decide to just get the 284 Win brass (fyi midway has in stock finally), or go with the 6.5-284 Lapua and neck up. Midways price went up on the 284 to $.79 case while of course the Lapua is still over a buck at Eabco $1.0875 per. Are there any knowledgable gents out there that shoot a straight 284 and maybe have experience with both?
I know the Lapua is better brass however with the neck up process are you losing some of that Lapua longevity? Also I have been reading the Lapua is 5 thous larger at the case head. My barrel is chambered for the straight 284 would that pose an issue? The Lapua would have to be worked to get that tricky 5 out of the base to get a solid chambering. Once more, working out the Lapua brass=reduced life. Another heads up this is going in a gas gun so there isnt a way to "firm the bolt down to fire form the 5 thous out". Not that "that" is recomended but 50 shooters will know what I'm talking about.
Any and all thoughts would help. Thanks guys
