Enrollment has officially opened for the 2nd Annual Texas Dual Role Carbine Class with Jack Leuba. This class will be held in Victoria, TX (located two hours south of Houston/Austin/San Antonio) Saturday October 27th and Sunday October 28th, 2018. We have to cap the class at 12 students, as of this moment we have zero (0) remaining openings, I will update this number here in this post as the class fills. The remaining spots will be filled based on date/time stamp in IM or email on a first come, first serve basis and your payment holds your place in the class.
In the coming weeks I will send out an email containing further information about travel options and accommodations in the Victoria area for those attending, along with further details about mandatory gear, location/facilities, waivers, and class schedule. Dual Role Carbine Training
This course is designed to teach students the effective employment of modern heavy carbines and battle rifles with variable powered optics from contact/CQB distances out to 600m +. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of marksmanship, achieving an effective zero, and practical field positions - all focused on extended distance success. This course builds on the
Designated Marksman rifle/concept; adding the capabilities of a more terminally effective caliber and modern low powered variable optics to boost performance and effectiveness.
Instructor
Jack Leuba is the Military and Government Product Liaison at Knight’s Armament. He’s one of foremost experts in the use of the SR-25 platform and an active participant in the Knight’s enthusiast community online.
Bio
Jack Leuba joined the United States Marine Corps in 1997 as a Rifleman, beginning his secondary military occupational specialty of Marksmanship Coach in 1999, and Combat Marksmanship Instructor in 2002. In 2005, following two combat deployments to Iraq he was assigned to Weapons Training Battalion Quantico with the task of assisting in the creation and implementation of the USMC Combat Marksmanship Program, as well as the Foreign Weapons Instructor and Trainer Courses. During his time in Quantico he became involved in competitive practical shooting to bolster and validate the concepts and techniques taught in the programs and classes under his charge. His experience and knowledge of small arms were frequently referred to by internal and external agencies for weapons testing, product development, acquisitions, training, and training curriculum development. In 2007, Jack was selected to be the USMC’s Marksmanship Liaison to the British Royal Marines. While working for the MoD, he assisted in the creation and implementation of three separate official programs of instruction, and provided individual instruction and training to numerous MoD units and agencies. Upon return from the UK he was again deployed for combat operations in Afghanistan with the USMC.
Jack has successfully completed numerous courses and military occupational specialty schools, to include: Marksmanship Coaches Course, Combat Marksmanship Instructor Course, Small Arms Weapons Instructor Course, Formal School Instructor Course, Close Quarters Battle School, Foreign Weapon Instructor Trainer Course, and the USMC High Risk Personnel Course. Personal awards include the Bronze Star with Combat “V” and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Equipment
The concept of the Dual Role Carbine is centered on a modern Battle Rifle/Heavy Carbine such as a 16" 308 semi auto with a low to mid powered variable optic. Other setups and optics can certainly work as well. We've had students bring 18" and 16" 5.56 guns, .308 semi-autos other than AR types (Scar 17) and guns with mid-variable optics - such as 2.5/3.5 -10/18 (though we would recommend a backup/offset red dot type sight for these for the close-up stuff). If you have any questions about your setup, just ask.
* Means to carry 2-3 magazines on your person and a good sling.
* Rear bags and bipods will also be very helpful.
* A phone or platform for ballistics software.
* Tools for your scope
* Other items that can be useful, but not necessary are weather stations (i.e. Kestrels), rangefinders, spotting scopes, shooting mats, snacks, UTVs, helos etc...again, any questions ask.
Round Count
Bring at least 400 rounds of match ammo, and 400 rounds of blaster ammo.
