We are significantly reformatting the BGTC precision rifle match effective this coming saturday 3/10/12.

Going forward there will not be a bench division.***

The match will be shot prone, seated, kneeling, standing or from an unconventional shooting position possibly with barricades or other structures for support or as obstacles depending on the stage.

The purpose of these changes is to allow the match to focus on skill sets we have encountered at various matches in surrounding states. We want to provide a venue for local shooters to practice for these matches.

I will still assign shoot times on the hour starting at 9 am cst, as before, when you let me know you want to shoot. Each shooter will shoot each run individually and we will run each group of shooters, by shoot start time, through all of the match stages before the next shoot time commences.

Round count for the match this saturday is 25 rounds, You will need to be able to move through stages with what you can carry.

We will explain the course of fire at the beginning of each shoot start time and each stage.

***I have lots of respect for our bench shooting disciplines and shooters and hope that shooters that prefer shooting from the bench will shoot the bench matches at BGTC.

The match fee is $15 and non BGTC members will sign a waiver before they shoot.

Hope to see you all soon! As always, send me your emails to [email protected] or pm me here for your shoot start times.

Thanks

Re: 3/10/12 BGTC Precision Rifle Match-NEW FORMAT

Here is what we will do this saturday. Just a few changes from the usual format for this weekend. We will change more as time passes month to month.

Within each run/shoot time:
-All shooters will have guns in a cold, safe and unloaded condition on the prone firing line when directed to do so with chamber flags in the chamber of each rifle;
-On the command all shooters simultaneously will move to the ground prone at their rifle and for each distance from 100 yards to 440 yards you will have a total of two minutes to prepare and shoot prone at each distance as follows, one minute of preparation time and then one minute to take 5 shots at the designated target or targets at each distance. Each berm will be engaged as a separate match, timed with start/stop with approximately 2 minutes between engaging each berm;
-The targets at 100, 300, 385 and 440 yards will be as follows and each hit is worth 10 points;
     *1 moa dot at 100 yards (this is a change for the prior 1/2" dots);
     *3 moa dot at 300 yards (same as before);
     *4, 4" hanging steel plates and 1, 5" knock down plate at 385 yards (engage in any order, points scored for a hit on each plate, you only get points once for each plate (hit one twice and you wasted a shot!) (same as before);
     *1, 6" steel plate at 440 yards (hits only count if we can see them on the plate, hitting the fire hose hanger doesn't count)(same as before);
This is a change in format as time for engaging each berm's targets is now limited.
-After we have completed the runs at 100, 300, 385 and 440 yards, you will individually, on the command, engage 5 steel plates at the 500 yard berm in the following manner:
     *500 yard berm:
     *This is a know your limits stage (same as before but with more steel);
     *Each shooter will be assigned a number in the order positioned on the firing line from left to right;
     *Shooter number 1 will receive a one minute preparation time period;
     *During shooter 1's preparation time period, all other shooters should prepare their equipment and position.
     *You will know when to load and make ready by hearing the commands;
     *Starting with shooter number 1, on the command, each shooter will one at a time engage the 5 steel plates at 500 yards from left to right. You must engage the steel plates in that order, which will be starting with the largest plate on the left. You must hit the plate on the farthest left before you can move on the the next plate to the right. Point values increase as the plates get smaller. If you engage the plates out of order you will be directed to immediately cease fire and regardless of prior hits your score will be zero for this stage. Stop when you want to, but if you miss with any shot you lose all points gained by prior hits and you will be directed to cease fire and the stage is over. There will be 5 round plates from left to right of the following sizes...10", 6", 5", 4" and 4". Point values in order of engagement are...5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 points.
Hope to cya this saturday.

i forgot to mention, there will an optional stage shooting off a multi level barricade, another 5 rounds, you don't have to shoot it, if you do and score hits you will get an extra 10 points per hit on your match score for the day.
