3 Presses. Too many?

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

If 3 is too many, I'm fucked. I have 5.

AFAIK there is no conversion for either of those presses to run 50BMG. Definitely not for the progressive. Do some checking on the RCBS ammomaster 2, I seem to remember there was some sort of conversion possible, but not sure if it can be applied to the rock chucker. I don't see how it could be considering the cast frame on the rock chucker just flat out eliminates fitting a .50 case or die (threads in top).

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

I looked and the conversion is for the origional ammomaster. Thank you for the help, I was just hoping there was something out there for what I have. Looks like I get to make my bench a little more crowded.

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

I have an RCBS RC, Hornady LNL and Dillon 550B.
I converted the RCBS to use the LNL bushings.
I am not against a fourth, as I have eyed the Forster Coax more than once.
Sadly, when you step up to the 50BMG you have a rather large expense for all the reloading gear to do it.

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

No, I'm good with 3. RCBS Rock Chucker, Redding T-7, and a Lee Loadmaster. Oh and a MEC Sizemaster, too. So I guess 4. There's also a third hand Redding Boss under my bench that a friend gave me.

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

You can't never have enough presses. I have 4 RCBS presses, including an Ammo Master II for the 50 BMG. Thinking about a progressive one for my hand gun loads.

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

i have 4 presses 3 i use and 1 in limbo
i have a Redding T7 turret for my sub calibers
a P/W800c for my trap shooting
a Hollywood Senior Turret for my BMG match shooting
i picked up a Hollywood single stage
the price was good and you can always use a single stage
haven't set it up and im not sure im going to keep it

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

RCBS makes a conversion kit for the Ammomaster press to load the 50 BMG. Midway carries this kit here.

Or you can get the 50BMG reloading kit here.

RCBS really stands behind their product and offers great customer service. I've DESTROYED decapping pins and expander balls using the ammomaster press -- I never got a single snide comment about using the 50BMG capable press on 223 or similar small cartriges. I can't justify the cost, both in money and room, of having more than one press, so I wanted one press that can do everything.

I have 8 or 9 presses in one room.

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

I was trying to be cheap and get the Lee, but my wife said something to the tune of "Why would you sacrifice your morals to by something other than RCBS." Not that the Lee would be bad, but I have had nothing but good experiences with my RCBS's. I had a pretty steep learning curve with my Pro 2000, and every time I broke something, they sent the parts no questions asked. I like that, and apparently, so does my wife.

Re: 3 Presses. Too many?

No such thing as too many presses....Dillon 1050RL, 650, 550x3, RCBS RockChucker, Bonanza, 4 lee wussy presses and I figure a few more will be added here shortly....really need a 1050Super and another 650. :)
