30-06 @ 1000yds bullet choice

i have a buddy who wants me to teach him to reload and get a round for killing paper at 1000 yds. he ask me what bullet he should try first and i have no experiance with 30 cal so i didn't know the answer. i know there is no clear cut answer but im looking for a starting bullet.

22 inch 1-10 twist barrel.

im looking at the 175 smk should i look at a diffrent bullet

Try 185 grain Berger Match Target, IMHO....

i was wondering about those but i didn't know if i could get enought velocity behind a 200+ grain bullet out of a 06 and 22 inch barrel to really use it

I'm getting the 208 to 2700+ fps via RL22, and RL17. Barrel is 22.5"

Minimum, Berger 175 non VLD. I have better luck with the Bergers. But the heavier bullets will buck the wind better at longer distances.

208gr A-max.

At the very minimum step up to the Beger 190gr VLD.
