I have a question about 30-06 ammo. Hopefully this is appropriate for this forum.

I have a few Garands that I have not shot for a couple of years. At one time I had a bunch of Lake City ammo but I shot all that up. I bought some Greek and Turkish ammunition that was suppose to be non-corrosive. However the ammo was not non-corrosive. And I had a bit of a mess.

The most accurate load is not mandatory for the shooting that I do, but the ammo must be non-corrosive, Does anyone have any leads on the best priced 30-06 ammo I can buy so I can run some ammo through my Garand's?? Thanks, Tom.

Re: 30-06 help

You shouldn't be shooting anything besides military surplus or handloads that duplicate it in a Garand, they are not made for commercial ammunition.

Re: 30-06 help

Commerical ammo is a No Go in the garand.

You can get on the CMP website and order Greek non corrosive ammo. I've shot it in several garands with a couple of friends. It's non corrosive from the CMP.

Hornady also makes a "Garand Ammo" load that is printed on the box "Garand Load"

They tell you the bullet and the powder and the powder charge.

Re: 30-06 help

I have a 10 boxes of den 43 armor piercing 30-06 ammo if your interested in buying it. ammo was made for your garand but its corrosive primed. it'll be fine just clean the shit out of it when you're done

Re: 30-06 help

A friend and I bought 35,000 rounds in 1985 for next to nothing. It was LC ammo, and it shot very well. Man do I wish I bought a bunch more back then when I had the chance. Now the prices have gone crazy. Who would have known back then. Instead of buying rifles I should have been buying more ammo. However I have no interest in corrosive ammo. Tom.
