30-06 precision rifle?

i have a .308 5R set up in a mcree and a YHM can.

does remington make a 30-06 that can be compared to the 5R? it would have to be a stainless barreled action, heavy barrel as well.

as you all know, 308 ammo is gone, but there is plenty of 30-06.

i really don't have a need for a 300WM.

As far as I no they don't make anything comparable to a 5R in 30-06. I feel your pain I would like one as well. I think I am just going to have one built. I am pretty sure I can have it done with the HS Precision stock, a 700 action trued and Shilen barrel for 1500-1800.

My shooting pard has a 40X built at Remmy's custom shop chambered in '06 and I promiss you it will shoot with any 5r i've seen. Its the most accurate rifle thats ever been on my private range, which really isn't all that many I guess but that rifle is a lazer. As far as 308 ammo, I really think if we're patient for a bit, it will be available again in the not too distant future.

Yah it will be a couple of months till everyone quits buying everything they can find instead of just what they want. I would just hold out for a little bit but yes you could do it with a 30-06 as AIMSMALL55 said Carlos Hathcock did.

i originally wanted an '06, but i settled for the 308 because i don't need a 300WM.

the '06 has a bit more punch as well.
