I say use them...Scenars have worked well for me the past three years on mule deer and antelope here in Montana.

If you like the accuracy of smk try the gmks. They are pretty close from I can tell.

Try anything with a J4 jacket. Namely berger and JLK. The Hornady A-max won't bounce off either.

Hi PGS, can you elaborate on the performance of the scenars and the ranges they have been used out to. I'm also interested in close and mid range terminal performance if you have that on hand.

I shot this buck last fall here in Montana. Taken with a .308 at 470 meters, broadside through both lungs. 155 Scenar went completley through. I've used and seen that same load used on quite a few mule deer from 150 to 600 meters. From what I've seen it works good if the shots are placed right...as with any other load and bullet.

These three mule deer does were taken with my Surgeon .308 and 155 Scenars at 400 to 440 meters with one shot each.
I see simalarities with this bullet and Berger's VLD.

SST's are going in on the 06 this year, I've used Amax and Interbonds with great success before.

One more for the road...One my hunters with a buck he shot last fall with the same rifle and load at 300 or so meters. Thats the exit hole showing.

In the rifle shown above I've been using 46.2 grs Varget, Lapua case, Fed.210M, MV is 2950fps.

This is what I have seen as well.
For a little less recoil and great performance try the 130 TSX.

i use sierra Game King 180 SPT, v0 is about 800 m/s, and this configuration is very devastating up to 800 mt ... Energy is little more than 1300 Joule ( muzzle energy of .357 Mag!! )
