I'm considering a new 300 Blackout barrell that I will use for hunting. Accordingly,I'm considering an 18" barrel (over a 16") for added range, and I have a few questions:

1. Will I have any significant increases in accuracy with an 18" barrel over a 16" (and if so, to what extent)?

2. Can I still shoot sub sonics from an 18" barrel?

(NOTE: I'm aware that factory subsonic loads are designed to be shot from a 16" a barrel and are lilkely to be super sonic from an 18" barrel. However, couldn't I just figure out a handload that's a bit slower than the factory stuff that would leave the 18" barrel sub sonic?)

Anything else to consider?

I would go 16" or as short as you can. The blackout is a great round, but no amount of barrel length is going to allow you to stretch it out there and gain enough speed to worry about. The factory subs will pop sometimes in a 16" bolt rifle. IMO 8" is where its at.. for the blackout.
