.300 blackout help

Re: .300 blackout help

No need for a switch block, you need all the gas you can get to cycle it with subs. Thats why there is no switch block for the blackout. If it isnt cycling with subs (factory ammo) then you may need to open the gas port up some.

Re: .300 blackout help

I have a smith and wesson 300 black out and it runs subs just fine , suppressed or not . It is a 16 inch carbine gas also runs supersonics with no issues .
are you using reloads or factory ammo ?
you should not have to do anything to the rifle.

Re: .300 blackout help

Search for "Paladin Machine." He makes a 3 position gasblock for this. If you have your port drilled out enough, you can run fairly light subsonic loads unsuppressed, and switch to hot supersonic loads without beating the shit out of everything. I had a barrel and block from him and could run 208 Amax's over 8.6 grains of VVN110 (quieter and more accurate than 1680) unsuppressed and they would lock the bolt back. I could also shut the gas off and cycle them by hand, or restrict it and run supers.

It's the way to go if you want to run ultra quiet subsonics with fast powder and cycle the action. I sold mine and went with a standard setup when I decided that subsonics aren't very practical for my uses.

Re: .300 blackout help

@ nmcclure, recently moved from Seminole to north of Abiline.

I am currently running Remington Express Rifle 220gr "otm"'s out of a 16" factory s&w setup with a yhm break/adaptor and a yhm phantom. i may try to open up the gas port a bit and see where that gets me. I have 300 rounds to go thru and i was hoping to use them on pigs. Probably wont run supers thru it but if i do how would opening up the gas port effect supers?
