I have a customer who would like to put a .300 blackout together on a pistol lower. His question is does he need anything special in his buffer/spring set up?

Nope...
Only thing that is different is the barrel.
Everything else is standard AR parts.
A heavy buffer is recommended by most barrel manufactures though.

I am running a spikes ST-T2 (4.1oz) on my AAC 9"SBR and have had no problems.
