<span style="font-size: 14pt"><span style="color: #000099">Gentlemen,

I just finished up my 300 Blackout build and I have to say that it is a lot of fun to shoot. I loaded up 20 rounds (17gr of H110 under 125gr Nosler BT's) and think this is showing some promise. Unfortunately it would not cycle reliably but I think that's due to the light load I tried. I'll make up some more rounds for tomorrow and go from there. Anyone have a "go-to" hunting load for H110 and 125gr Nosler BT's? I have a 16" Wilson barrel with a 1 in 8 twist.

I can see this being more of a novelty until I can get a suppressor but a lot of fun nonetheless.

Both targets were shot from 100 yards lying prone with a front bag rest. The top is five rounds and the bottom one is 12 rounds. The other three of the 20 I made up went in to making sure I was on paper:)

Re: 300 Blackout

Looks like a winner to me! I am guessing once you get your loads figured out it will get even better. Lets see some gun porn! I was just talking about the 300 Blackout at the range this week with a younger guy. I'd love to see yours.

Re: 300 Blackout

Nice build.
There are some good theads with load data here and over at silencer talk.

For a super sonic accuacy load, try using N110 instead of H110.
The Sierra 110gr & Hornady 110 V-Max are really accurate using super sonic 300 BLK loads as well.

If you think it is fun now, just wait till you put a can on it!

Low gas volume is the likely the cause of the reliability issue. Are you experiencing a failure to eject or failure to feed? It will more than likely cycle fine with a suppressor on. If you do not plan on shooting it suppressed, you may want to bump the size of the gas port.

<span style="font-size: 14pt"><span style="color: #000099">It ejects just fine (leaves a neat pile about 2 feet away) but fails to strip a new round and return to battery. After doing some more reading, the load I tried was definately too light, ie; NEED MORE POWDER! Anyway, I loaded up some 17.5gr and 18.0gr for another function check. I will bring out the Chrony later this week once I have it running like it should.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions.

<span style="font-size: 11pt"><span style="color: #000099">Sir,

Thank you for the compliment. It is a carbine length gas tube with a Rainier lo-pro block. Once I put in for a suppressor, I will get an adjustable block, maybe PRI lo-pro adjustable. The trouble will be finding one to fit under that forend as it's a fairly tight fit.
