What would cause the bolt of a .300 BO weapon System, a Q Honey Badger, shooting subsonic cartridges with a suppressor attached, to lock open with cartridges still in the magazine? You can feel it starting to happen. Almost as it the weapon system starts to loose gas???

I don't have a picture. But I'll be shooting this weapon system again this weekend. I can tell you that the bolt locks all the way back. As if the magazine is empty. Weird... And only happens when she is running with a can on her.

Buddy of mine brought up that it may be the fact that I only use metal magazines. I am a creature of habit. Only time I had a function issue in the military with my weapon system, it was due to those damned P-Mags. So, I'll try a P-Mag this weekend. I just don't buy that as a reason for the above mentioned malfunction...

It's not the magazine unless the metal itself is deformed or the spring is bad. Focus on the gas... adjustable gas blocks are notorious for pain and suffering.

I don't believe that a Honey Badger has an adjustable gas block. Although, I'm going to have to do some research to confirm that statement. Also, I agree with you on the magazine.

Have you tried forcing the issue manually? Just curious. I would see if you can support the gun buy the magazine, manipulate the magazine / wiggle Su cycle the bolt... Might take two people.

I'm just curious if the increased pressure due to the suppressor is moving the magazine or its contents around causing the bolt to lock

Along the lines of above, I have had a bolt catch spring hang up on me on one of my lowers. Easy check by feel to see if the bolt catch is operating as it should...

I wouldn't think running the can would be the cause, as the weapon was designed with suppressors in mind.
Does it happen with more different magazines?
Does it do it every round, or after a certain amount of rounds have been fired?
Does it happen when you start with a full mag, half mag etc...?

I’m in the camp of suspecting first a sticking or weak bolt catch spring. There should be firm pressure holding it out of engagement until the magazine follower pushes it up.
