Rifle Scopes $300 dollar scope

Re: $300 dollar scope

I am currently running a millet trs 1 on my cz 22. It's only 16x but it's reasonably clear at 16x mildots aren't true though. Only dislike I have is size and weight and only because it is on a 22. Overall decent for the money

Re: $300 dollar scope

I would consider expanding your budget to $400 and take a look at the Vortex Viper (not the PST).

I have one and for the price it is excellent and meets your criteria (20x and mil dots).

Re: $300 dollar scope

i have a millet 4-16x56, and a super sniper 16x42, the SS is alot brighter, but has a smaller exit pupil, (i think thats what its called) so you have to position your eye just a little bit more carefully than on the millet, but the scope is awesome! i would buy another in a heartbeat...

Re: $300 dollar scope

I bought that scope for the what appears to be the same reason you are looking at it. It was the least expensive scope with some of the options I wanted. A year later, the turrets are mushy, the illumination bleeds, and the mildots are not true (probably been this way the whole time, but I never knew how to use them until about 5 months ago.)

If I was looking for inexpensive scope, I'd increase my budget by $100 and look around some more.

Re: $300 dollar scope

For a cheap scope my vote is for the SS as well. I got a 16x SS on a rifle i traded for and its not to bad of scope. the turrets seem to have good positive adjustments. clarity is not to bad. There far from a good scope but the price is far from one as well. If its going on something your not using at the moment save up some more and go for better glass.

Re: $300 dollar scope

Since this is for a .22lr I would get the Mueller APT, a tactical version of the 4.5-14X40 APV. It has 30mm tube, target turrets and is mil-dot. This has been a long time favorite with the rimfire crowd. A list of $190 it helps the budget for a good set of rings. If this is for a 10/22 the Tally rings are great.

Re: $300 dollar scope

I had a Millett scope which was replaced with the Viper. I had multiple warranty returns on the Millett for failure to track. I would not recommend you go that direction.

Don't be afraid to look in the optics for sale forum for a used scope. Used quality is better than new junk.

Re: $300 dollar scope

Another vote for a SWFA Super Sniper. Having had a 10x42 and a 20x42, I'd suggest the 16x42. I liked the 10 power a lot and the optics seemed ever so slightly better than the 20 power, but I wanted a more power. The 20x was too much power for me.

Re: $300 dollar scope

I had that same buckmaster on my .308 until I could afford an upgrade. I loved it, I think it was a little sharper than my PST. I am saving it for a MarkII when I get one.
