I recently acquired a 300 H&H (1:10 twist, 26" barrel) and have been collecting load information. I haven't found anything on optimum bullet weights for the 300 H&H. Any folks here 300 H&H shooters that can share what weights and powders they have had the best luck with?

I'm Powder Challenged right now and only have IMR-4895, Hodgdon Hybrid 100, and H4832 in over two-pound quantities.

Don't know if this is of any relevance . I no longer have my 300 H&H. When I did I used the Barnes 150gr TSX. This bullet over loads of IMR 4350 performed quite well. Put this bullet into just about any 30 cal from 308 on up & it will take elk cleanly. Complete pass thru , even the heavies bone. I'm not a long range shooter. Most all my shots , because of trees , are under 200yds & many under 100yds.The 150 TSX proved to be very accurate when seated .050 to .060 off the lands. I realize for deer that a bullet as stout as this is not need , but would always put a smile on your face with it's accuracy.

I have been shooting a 300 H&H since the mid 80s as my main big game rifle. I have found the 165s to be the best balance of bullet weight, BC, SD and recoil.

4831 is my main powder.

Barrel #3 has decided to like 165 Accubonds.
