Gunsmithing 300 Norma which bottom metal ?

Building a 300 Norma hunting rifle with a defiance action with manners mct t stock , will not shoot anything heavier than 215 weight bullets
HS bottom metal or PTG with wyatt 3.825 box ???

With a 215 gr Berger bullet, your cartridge length is going to be in the 3.500" - 3.550" range. I wouldn't want an extended box for that.

What about with 230s

Berger has two 230 gr bullets. The COAL of the OTM will be about the same as the 215 gr. The other one will be about .050" longer.

Hopefully these pics help. The one on the left in both pics is the 230 OTM Tac and the one on the right is the 230 Hybrid Target. The magazines are the AI and Accurate Mag 3.850 OAL mags. OAL of the 230 Target is 3.76 or something. They both feed easily at those lengths.
