Looking to put together a new rig. It will be chambered in 300 Norma (improved possibly). I’m looking for a discussion on the best receiver (single shot) and twist rate for the heavy 30 cals from Sierra or Berger. It will be a target rifle no hunting and weight will be heavy for long range work.

May I ask why you are deciding on those projectiles? Its like you putting a governor on your turbo charged engine......

The heavy Bergers and Sierras are awesome. How are they in any way a handicap? What projectile would you choose? The Flatlines are cool in theory but they don't shoot nearly as well in my rifle as 230 Bergers.

Reviving this thread...would like get a discussion going on the benefits of going with and action that has longer tenon says 1/8 treads vs 1/16 threads for a 300 norma.

I’ve noticed most companies that offer an appropriate action are just using a regular Remington long action, however would there be any benefits gained with a bigger action?

Also what MOA base would I need to reach 2200 - 2400 yards using a zero compromise scope?
