Im looking for input on the .300 RSAUM round? Any help and info is greatly appreciated. Mainly whats the advantages/disadvantages and comparison to 308 or any other comparable round for that matter

Beats 308 hands down, but not as good as 7RSAUM. The 7 will spank the 300 any day of the week.

How readily available are rounds? Should be able to get ammo at any local gun store? With my job and family I don't get any time to reload.

No. Do NOT buy a 300 RSAUM if you don't reload. Remington gave up on the round as it was out-competed by the slightly larger 300 WSM. I almost bought one once when I found a Sendero in this chambering heavily discounted. I decided against it when the store, the largest in the state, had only 1 box of ammunition for it. And this was 5-6 years ago, it's probably worse now.
It's a great round for reloading, living closer to its potential with heavy bullets in a true short action configuration than the WSM.

ATH speaks the truth. If you do not reload, don't bother with the SAUM. Get a WSM in either 7 or 300. Remington switched to chambering the WSM line instead of the SAUM. If you do reload though, you can get rem brass and Nosler custom brass most anytime from a variety of vendors. And it does fit nicely in a 2.8" oal package.

I do have a Mod 7 in 300sum. Does anyone have any good hunting loads that I could try out? I have had this rifle of about 8yrs and it seems that groups it shoots with factory ammo has gotten worse.

I used 54.5grs varget and barnes tsx-tipped and they were very accurate. for targets I used 55.5gr varget and 168amax. I was shooting out of a 700 ltr. hop this helps.

I'll have to get back to you on this question. I have the same rifle and a bunch of test loads but I'm debating on waiting to get a new stock first. I can't imagine I'll leave the heavy laminate stock on it. It'll most likely end up in a mickey edge stock and I'm going to wait till that happens before testing loads.
I've got 180 grain partitions worked up to a max test charge of 64 grains of re-17 and a max test charge of 64 VV N160. The 160 feels to be at 100% case capacity and I'm thinking I can get at least another full grain of RE-17 before hitting the 100% mark. These are loaded to an OAL of 2.820" These were loads another guy worked up for his 300saum in the model 7 so I'm just duplicating his since I have the same powder and bullets. Starting test charges are at 61.5 grains and up from there.

I had DPMS LR rifle in 300RSAUM. The ammo is nowhere near as readily available as .308Win. As far as factory ammo, your options are limited. Remington is the only company I know of that makes it. The cheapest I could find the ammo for was $29.99/box of 20, and that was for basic range stuff.Expect to pay between $30 and $50 a box depending on the grade of ammo you need. I also do not reload, so I ended up trading the Upper for one in .308Win. If I was hunting with the rifle, or shooting 800-1000+ ranges, I would have kept it, but the longest range in Ct is 400yd, and a .308 is more than adequate for my needs, and I can shoot 2 or 3 times as much for the same price with less recoil. It all depends on your needs. If youre hunting larger game at long range, and you're not burning through lots of ammo, The 300RSAUM is a great round.
If you reload, it's even better.LOL

I've had good luck with 180 Accubonds and either H4350 or 414. Single digit ES and 3000 fps.
