I'm currently load testing for my 300 RUM with 208 AMAX's. I've only tried H50BMG between 95gr and 99gr and I'm not having much luck. I'm thinking about trying H1000 and Retumbo since I've seen guys having luck with these powders but there's still not much info around for this cartridge with the 208/210gr bullets. I was considering trying some 210 VLD's but would rather stick with the AMAX's since I have quite a few already and I know if I mess around I will find a load to work for them. Here is my current load:

Nosler brass 1x fired
CCI 250 primers
H50BMG 95gr-99gr(99 is right at my pressure limit)
3004 fps with 97.5 gr
Hornady 208 AMAX
COAL 3.893 (I have a little more room to seat out further which I plan on doing as well)

Just wanna see what everybody else is using so I can find a better starting point. Thanks.

Re: 300 RUM / 208 AMAX load data

I have a decent load started using the 208, CCI 250 Primer, 81 grains H4831SC, Nosler Brass. I'm still working on it but I've gotten a few .5 moa groups out of it and the velocity is around 2800-2850. still working on bring the load up though.

Re: 300 RUM / 208 AMAX load data

What sucks is I got this gun from a guy in Washington and he had it shooting great. But due to the weather conditions here in FL the load is way off. I haven't exactly duplicated his load but I'm close and it shows no signs of accuracy at long range.

Re: 300 RUM / 208 AMAX load data

Let me add then that this load has only been tested in the High Desert area of So Cal. elevation about 2400 ft, 75 F.
I am originally from Washington but am currently working in So Cal.
