My buddy has a 300 RUM that are starting to load for. It takes tremendous pressure to deprime and size. We are using Hornady lube, Lyman, and still have trouble. Finally tonight I broke the case bottom loose, meaning the die is stuck inside the brass. Is there a preferred lube for this, and can we save the die? It's a Lee, so we are not really losing much.

you drill and tap the bottom of the brass then you put a round piece with a screw in it (it has to be like a cylinder type piece thats hollow you can get them at some sporting goods stores) and then put the screw in it and keep tightening it until it gets out. my dad had a brass stuck in his die too. you can get kits is what I meant, I think rcbs sells them.

You can buy the tap and drill set at Home Depot. Look on-line to see what sizes you need then go buy it there because I thinks it's cheaper. You'll need some extra washers to allow extra space between the bolt and the stuck case when you begin to pull the case from the die. It sounds confusing but go onto Youtube and check it out. Make sure to always start with a smaller drill bit though and move to a bigger one if need be.

EDIT: take that Hornady lube and blow it up with some tannerite. Use Redding Imperial sizing wax and you wont have a problem again.

Hornydaddy unique lube . I use it when I use the small base die on the 338 brass. It is so freeking easy it is almost like it isn't sizing . Switch to anything else and it scares the crap outa you the first 20% of the stroke . FWIW , the only 3 cases I ever stuck were with the aerosole lubes .

Amen to this. One shot was crap. Switched to Mink Oil (when I couldn't get the 'good stuff') and now use imperial. I know that the spray lubes work for lots of people. I am not one of them.

If you are still using more pressure than you would like, even after trying imperial, try the dry neck lube to lube the inside of the case necks first and then use imperial on the outside. This helps when passing back over the expander.
