So I am just getting me reloading bench up and running again since I moved and I was wondering if anyone's been able to replicate the Remington 300-RUM power level ammo with descent results. It was kinda a selling point to me on the caliber before I saw the $60.00 price tag on the ammo. Anyway Ive got the cheap rem 700 with the 26" barrel and would like to use less powder and bruised shoulders. Ive been shooting 180 grain accubonds with H1000 and rem brass at max load. Any direction you guys could give me would be great, thanks!

Re: 300 RUM Reload question

Your best bet would be to use minimum charge starting loads. IMR 4350 gave the slowest starting velocity. If you call Hodgdon, see if they have data on H4895. It is a good powder for reduced loads. But, it may be a little too fast for the RUM case.

180 GR. SPR SPBT
IMR 4350
min 76.0 grains 2869 fps
Max 81.0 grains 3071 fps
