I am looking for some 300 saum loads.

I have searched and cant find much on it. I plan on shooting 190-210gr bullets.

thanks

Re: 300 saum loads please

My personal opinion is the bullets you are wanting to shoot are a tad too heavy for the 300SAUM, now if you were shooting the 300 WSM that would be a different story. The heaviest I would shoot is 175-180, but they really like 150-168 bullets. Varget powder is a good powder in it.

Sierra Load data for 200 Grain Bullets

Sierra data is very conservative, but shows up to 2800 FPS with a 200 grain bullet and RL-19.

Hodgdon Load Center

Hodgdon has load data for the 300 SAUM for 190's (2867 fps), 200's (2788 fps), and 220 (2647 fps) grain bullets. In other words you can drive 220's with the 300 SAUM about as fast as a 308 can drive 180's. And that's not too shabby.

Re: 300 saum loads please

I used Ramshot Hunter with 180s. 2950 in a 22" barrel. I tried RL17 and it turned into an uncomfortable gun to shoot for 75fps more. I never tried anything else because I sold it to pay off some medical bills. I loved it. Barely more recoil than 30-06.

Re: 300 saum loads please

I use H4350 with 210 Bregers in my F class rifle. I found it to be an extremely accurate cartridge and have used it to win a number of big matches in the last year. Try 58.0 grains to start with BR2 primers. I have used 59.0 grains but in my rifle this was too hot a load and backed off to 58.0 grains. 59.0 was stretching the primer pockets but that was still below what was reccomended by the reloading manuals. Now I get many reloads per case and I only dropped about 40 fps to 2780 fps out of my 28" barrel. This gives the same trajectory as a 284 shooting 180's out to 1000 yards. Steve

Re: 300 saum loads please

I got this load data from Mickster when I bought his "F"-Class rifle. It is a .300 Remington SAUM. The action is a Surgeon magnum single shot. Stock is a McMillan F class comp. Lilja 30 inch barrel. Load data he used was 63.7gr. of 4831SC, Federal Gold medal magnum primers, and shooting 210gr. Berger VLD bullets. I shoot factory Remington, Premier Match 190gr. Matchking BTHP, #RM300SM7.
