Does anyone have experience moly coating a straight walled cast lead bullet for the 300 whisper/ blackout or other subsonic round? I am using a 200gr straight wall mold (no lube grooves) just looking for input??

It would be best to have the bullet start out a bit smaller before wrapping, but I have seen people run the wrapped bullet through a lubrisizer to get the diameter down where they want it. You may be able to find a copy of "The Paper Jacket" by Paul Matthews. Wolfe Publishing company printed it. They are the publishers of "Handloader" magazine. Try ABE Books...they have a lot of used books in case Wolfe can't help you. Good luck.

Thanks for the reference on the book I will look for one, paper patching might be the way to go. And not lead up my barrel.

Moly is not going to prevent leading of your barrel. That is not how lubrication works on a lead bullet. If you want a treatise on that go to....here: http://www.lasc.us/castbulletnotes.htm
There is some good info on here quite possibly the best.

I would paper patch them. I played around with PP for a while and it takes a lot of study, trial and error to get it right.
Finding the paper will likely be your biggest challenge. There are some craft store vellums that work ok but the end all be all will be special ordered. I have some put almost a ream of it but the end is ripped off the end so I can't give you the specs. almost positive it is 80%rag or more and .003". I obttained it from thepapermillstore.com
At least that tag was still intact.

If you have a premium barrel like an MGM you won't need anything but a well lubed bullet, gas check, sized .001" overbore. It shouldn't lead unless your bore is rough or you have a reverse choked bore. I had that problem on a 7TCU 'Tender. Slugged the barrel and it was bigger at the muzzle than at the throat. Factory barrels were notorious for reverse choke, lead like hell and never shoot for shit.
