I've been having some really good luck with the 208 amax and 72.5 4000 mr. I've not seen any one post any load data for this powder. Anybody got the skinny on some different loads in a .300 win mag with 4000 mr ??

i have been messing around with it with some 190 nosler hpbt. not much luck so far. i have some 220 nosler hpbt 210 bergers and 208 a maxes to try as well. 68.5 was giving me 2850 with the 190s at 3.5". about the only load data i can find is for 220 rn and 190 sp. i guess we make our own. i will report back after i try these 220 noslrs i am loading.

i loaded the 220s with 67g of 4000mr 5 at 3.5 and 5 at 3.58. both shot over 2 inches at 100 yards. i did not chronograph because i do not care how fast it is if it shoots that bad. i will load up some real tests and report back. this gun will shoot any charge i have tried with any bullet using 4831 sc under an inch. this 4000mr has been frustrating.

Aimsmall, you got me started testing this powder a while back, and I tried it in a 26" Savage Varmint SS. I was pushing 220gr SMKs seated to 3.5", CCI large rifle BR primers. The data is spotty, rain smeared my scribblin's.

67.5gr- 2767 2764 2772
68gr - 2787 2784 2809
69.gr - 2794 2807
69.5gr- 2828 2821 2802
70.5gr- 2831 2843 2809
71gr - 2848 2850
72gr - 2905 2913

I don't recall what the brass looked like, but I think the reason I only fired two shots of the last two charges is because I was starting to see pressure.
69, 69.5 & 70gr all came in at an inch or under at 200yds, with 69.5 being the best.

Off topic, but I stuffed 58gr 4000MR into a 30-06 case and got 2822 with a 208gr AMAX. Zero pressure signs.

Holy cow .... 2822!! That's incredible !! What was the accuracy like.

Btw... I keep trying to find it all in my pics I shoot of groups, but at 432 yards I had 4 within a hall inch of each other. Both the 215 and 208 shot very well. I was running 72.5 grains but I was loading very long. 3.625....?? Will have to check. Zero pressure signs. Was off the lands too.
I haven't shot that particular rifle in awhile. The 5r MILSPEC .300 win mag. Got a bunch of other rifles that I've been popping steel with. But it's going to be my bean field hunting rifle this year. I'll probably go back to H1000 and the. 208 just for the sake of I know my dope and the temp stability h1000

nice i got some nosler 220 hpbt loaded up at 69 and 70 at 3.59 for my 26" 700p. i will hopefully try them this week. if either shoots i will load some more for a proper test and chronograph session. i just keep having fliers that are landing about half a mil out of the group. i though it was a mechanical problem so i took some of my known good load out and they shot great

my gun just doesnt seem to like this 4000mr. i am going to try some more with some 190s but from 67 to 70 grains i did not find anything that shot under 2 inches at 100 yards with the 220 nosler or 208 a max but i did not mess around with length. did you guys. maybe i can use it as an excuse to buy another 300wm i have been looking at. i would hate to waste the rest of this 8 pounder.
