Any body got any opinion on what is the best brass in terms of case life, capacity, primer pockets, and will take a good bit of pressure? There's really not that much in terms of quality for the win mag.

Re: .300 win mag best brass?

If you can locate Lapua brass that's an obvious choice.

Sometimes you can locate RWS brass and that's every bit as good as Lapua.

Norma makes excellent brass for it.

Winchester brass is very good and definitely affordable.

Re: .300 win mag best brass?

All i've ever use is Remington brass for my 300WM. Now , since this is a belted case. You're going to have problems after a few firings, so you're going to need a belted magnum collet resizing die by Larry Willis . Here's his website : http://www.larrywillis.com/. In this site, you're going to find great information on belted brass and how you'll benefit from it . I highly recommend it !

Re: .300 win mag best brass?

I get 1/2 MOA accuracy regularly out of a factory stock 700P with Winchester brass. I just got the Larry Willis belted magnum die and hope to try it in the next few days.

I think cabelas has it, graffs, etc. you just have to shop it aorund. its expensive, generally in the 1.45-1.65 per case, but if your annealing and using the willis die, you can get a lot of firings.

Re: .300 win mag best brass?

I use RWS brass....I've actually had good luck with reloaded Federal brass as well. Used that before I got my RWS brass. Got about 8 reloaded out of them and held 1/2 MOA out to 500 yards. I'd use it again.

Re: .300 win mag best brass?

The Nosler stuff I used with mine was VERY nice, seemed very similar in quality and consistency (both loading and accuracy when firing) to my .308 Lapua brass. I'd say federal next then winchester...

I usually used a lighter load of 70gr H4831SC under a 208 or 210, but pushed it up to 73 gr with no issues on occasion to get into the 3150+ velocity crowd...my rifle had a tight chamber and brass only needed a light neck sizing.

Re: .300 win mag best brass?

I actually have some ( a ton ) of brass listed in the classifieds... if you want a grab bag- say 10 - 20 of each Winchester, Nosler, Federal 08 and 11, Frontier and Remington - or the 120 or so pieces of Nosler I have sized primed and ready I can mix and match for a sampler before you dive into a bunch of it somewhere.

Re: .300 win mag best brass?

If anyone is looking for a pretty good deal on some of the best 300 win mag brass. There is a sale going on with sinclair. if you buy 500 pieces of the Norma and use promo code DLS for 10% off its $1.26 a case to your door. That's the cheapest I have seen it in years. If you buy less than 500, still use DLS but then its 1.36 a case, still a good deal too.

Only this weekend!
