300 win mag OAL question.

well it is a weatherby ultrlight in 300 win mag. I ran into a bigger problem. I want to use this as a hunting gun so it has do work in the magazine. So I started to do a little messing about and I have the get the over all length to 3.48 for it to fit in the magazine box. With 75 grns of h1000 I am bulging the case about 3/4 of an inch. I think I am going to have to go with a hole different bullet. I am really not wanting to but it looks like something in the 180-190 with be calling my name.

Try the 185 gr Berger VLD's. I shoot them out of my McMillan which has a 1:12 twist. They have shot very well past 1,100 yards and are devastating on game. The group I hunt with have had good results with VLD's in the 150 gr. to 185 gr. range. I guided my friend on an elk hunt this past October and he took a nice bull at 521 yards shooting 150 VLD's out of a 270 Win. The COAL will be limited by the mag length and may have to experiment the find the right seating depth which provides the best accuracy or you can try the hybrids. The only problems with Bergers is trying to find them. Good luck.
