Gunsmithing 300 Win Mag Surgeon Long Action recommendation?

What's your price tag range? You can get a suitable 300WM action that's capable of very sub MOA shooting with everything from trued Remington pawn shop guns through $2800 action Dakotas. "BEST" is somewhat subjective. I'd like to aim midrange in there and get a nice custom like a BigHorn, Alpha II, or a Surgeon (again, decent price range in there too) and you'll be very well setup to shoot matches, hunt, etc.

I like my Surgeon XL because of the 30 moa rail, recoil lug and flat bottom, all of which are machined integral on the action, so no worries of a base coming loose and no recoil lug to buy or mess with. It's a heavy action which could be a problem for some applications but perfect for me as I want the extra weight.

I need some help trying to figure out what Long Action is best for my 300wm build. Any and all suggestions welcome, but please tell me why you choose those. Thanks fellas.

I'd pick the 1086 action for a 300 WM because I think the 1581XL is big and ugly. If I am going to have a big ugly action, I'd want a big ugly cartridge to go with it.
